Korea STEP Center (KSTEP) is a non-profit consortium of industry, public research institutes, and academia of Korea, who are interested in product model sharing using international standards. Starting as a STEP study group in February 1994, it has been introduce the STEP concepts to industry engineers through regular open meetings.
This Web site has been open since late 1996 with most of contents in Korean language (still it is). In early 2001, the Center has been transformed into a registered consortium with contributing members.

As the representative organization of STEP community of Korea, the Center hosts the ISO/TC184/SC4 (www.tc184-sc4.org) meeting in November 2002 and 2008 for the first time in Korea. Also as a member organization of ISC (international STEP centers consortium, isc.aticorp.org) KSTEP is actively participating in developing international standards to share product model data for industries of automotive, shipbuilding, aerospace, electronics, plants, building and constructions, and manufactured parts.
Membership of KSTEP is divided into three groups; contributing (C), participating (P), and observing (O) members. P and O members are similar to ISO membership groups. The C members contribute to the Center by providing annual fee. C and P members attend the ISO meetings and review the ISO voting documents.
KSTEP will lead the information technology in manufacturing industry by supporting easy and fast transfer and sharing of product information among automation devices such as robot. Electronic business is one main area where the product model data play a key role.
